Description and status:

Large size (32 cm). Mainly green plumage with shaggy red throat and breast patch, lilac forecrown.  Underside of tail pale orage-yellow with a broad blackish terminal band. Female: red extends to a small patch above base of bill.
Voice: kakakakakakaow.
Range: SE Asia, S Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia.
Status: Fairly common resident.
Habitat: Evergreen forest.
