Brown Hawk-Owl
Scientific Name: Ninox scutulata
Family: Strigidae
Description and status:
Slim and long-tailed with a rounded head, which lacks a facial disc. Coarse brown streaks on underparts and broad dark bars on tail enhance its superficial resemblance to and immature Shikra. Yellow eyes.
Voice: hoo-up.
Range: SE Asia.
Status: Common resident and winter visitor.
Habitat: Evergreen forest and deciduous, bamboo secondary growth.
