Blackish upperparts with white wing stripe. Crimson-maroon rump and underparts, with narrow black breast band. Upper mandible turquoise-blue, lower mandible yellowish.

Range: SE Asia, S Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia.
Status: Rare resident.
Habitat: Evergreen forest and wooded secondary growth along the edge of mangroves.
